I bought an old South Bend American style lathe in a bad state of disrepair from a scrapyard in downtown Johannesburg. I stripped it completely, scraped off 4 layers of paint, and reassembled it. I used it for several years before replacing it with a much more recent Emco Maximat V10P

It took about three months to get it into a usable state.
