MainZ Control Hardware and Software: The MainZ controller program runs in combination with a hardware device which plugs into the printer port and uses sophisticated zero-crossing triac drivers to switch power to 220 volt appliances such as lights, TV's hi-fi's, etc. This device has eight outputs, each of which can handle a maximum of 16A, although the total current must, needless to say, not exceed the rated capacity of the plug. DANGER: Potentially lethal voltages are present in the device. Every output is to be treated as live at all times. The software runs under WIN 95, Windows 3.XX, and a simple DOS version is also included. (MAINTIME.EXE). This should work on almost any PC, from XT thru Unnilhexium! To install the program under WIN 95, go START; RUN; then type A:\SETUP (or B:\SETUP), and the installation will proceed. In Win 3.X, from Program manager, go FILE; RUN; then type A:\SETUP (or B:\SETUP), and the installation will proceed. To install the DOS version, type A_INSTALL (or B_INSTALL) to the A:\ (or B:\) prompt. This simply copies all files from the diskette into a new directory. Run MAINTIME.EXE to launch this application. On- and off-times may be changed from within the application, and saved to, and recalled from the configuration (.CFG) file. Multiple such files may be saved for different timings, e.g. one for weekdays, one for weekends, etc. The address of the printer port may likewise be altered and this too is saved in the config. file, thus once the application is set up, no further input is needed, as the DEFAULT.CFG file is loaded upon startup.
